It will no longer be possible to smoke inside Disney parks

Disney will make a decision that could serve as a precedent for other theme parks, especially those full of children: starting May 1, smoking will not be allowed in Walt Disney World (Florida) and Disneyland (California) parks and others.

The decision was communicated in a note published on Disney parks blog, including other changes such as the sizes of strollers for babies or the entry of ice into the enclosures. The company explains it as follows:

“Beginning May 1, 2019, all smoking areas will disappear within Walt Disney World, Disneyland, the water parks, the ESPN Sports Complex and the California Downtown Disney District.”

Those who wish to smoke will have to go to the surrounding areas of the parks or Disney hotel areas. Considering the size of the facilities, this means, in most cases, walking kilometers and/or taking transport, in addition to the time to leave and then queue to enter again.

The measure is welcome, considering that tobacco smoke affects passive smokers, especially children who are at amusement parks. There is no news on how similar measures will be applied at Disneyland Paris or Tokyo Disneyland, but it is certainly a matter of time.
