Videos with dances are trendy, thanks to TikTok. For good and for bad.
Professionals and amateurs use the platform to showcase their work and, although the vast majority of “dancers” are in their teens, some grandmothers too go viral. (this one in particular, who dispenses with the label and notoriety, saying that she is just “a lady making a fool of herself.”)
The video has a single dance, but it is made up of small contributions from 52 famous choreographers. And with an average age, let's say, above the TikTok average, which makes the whole thing even better. The highlight is more due to the meeting of celebrities than the performance itself, after all, choreographers have a more intense relationship with the creation of movements, more than with the execution, which they usually outsource to young and athletic dancers. What matters is inventing a different way of expressing yourself with your body.
The inspiration: the GLOBE TROT
Another choreography that deserves to be highlighted is the production itself, because bringing together and demanding all these people is not easy. The project was somewhat inspired by another project that also uses this choreography language, GLOBE TROT, but which was made by 50 filmmakers in 23 countries – and with ordinary people.
